Ayumu
Name: Ayumu
Gender: Male
Race: Elf (dalish)
Class: Rogue
Specialty: Assassin
Weapons: Dual Wield
Mabari: Ostagar
Romance Path: Morrigan
Often covered in blood D:
Ayumu family and ancestry are unknown. He was found by a nomadic group of Dalish Elves who were out hunting. They came across a massive pile of Darkspawn corpses, and among them, a Dalish infant. At first, the hunters avoided the baby, thinking it was cursed, but they eventually brought it back and raised it, always ostracized though from the others. At age eight, Ayumu was kidnapped by humans and sold into slavery. He managed to escape back to the forests when he was about twelve years old, and lived on his own, mostly in starvation and sickness as he was rather frail and did not know much about survival. He had some memories of his years with the Dalish, but he had no weapons or real clothes or anything, and so was very cold and sick and hungry. A Dalish boy found him and helped him. The boy's name was Tamlen. After a month of getting used to the idea of a person who actually liked him, Ayumu let Tamlen bring him back to Tamlen's people. Ayumu was accepted as a Dale and grew very strong, fast, and powerful as he was once again among his people and under great care. But there was always something off about him. He never could stay really healthy, and he often had terrible dreams. He never really knew what it all meant, just brushed it aside as some PTSD from his slavery, but really, he was tainted by darkspawn blood. Just a little, which was enough to torment him his whole life, but never enough to truly turn him. When he encountered the mirror in the forest and Tamlen disappeared, the taint affected him very strongly. This was why Duncan was so urgent that Ayumu join the Grey Wardens immediately.
As a result of a dual darkspawn taint, Ayumu has only ten years left to live rather than the usual thirty that Grey Wardens have. This is because the untreated taint that he fought all his life has worn away at his soul worse than usual, so he is on an accelerated timeline. He can feel himself slipping away, but he does not tell anyone. He doesn't want them to worry.
Ayumu has a rather small party since he never accepts people into the group that has not proven themselves in battle to him. Hence why the quanari and Liellian are not with him.
Alistair - Despite having an extreme aversion to humans, he finds himself strangely accepting Alistair as his best friend. They have been through so many battles together, Ayumu can hardly think of entering a new one without his loyal companion. He trusts Alistair implicitly.
Morrigan - Though he was, perhaps, a little wary of the witch at first, she was the first person he ever fell in love with. She reminded him a lot of himself when he was lost in the woods after his escape from slavery, and she seems to be, for him, a picture of what he could have become if he had stayed there. She is wild and strong, and he admires that the most about her. She always has his back, and over a course of a rocky path, they found themselves oddly becoming friends, and then later, in love. He is determined not to let that become a weakness concerning his mission, and she is strong enough to keep him set straight too.
Zeveran - While the snarky rogue may have his sights set a little too high, Ayumu could care less. He sees this elf as a valuable asset, nothing more, though he won't say no to being friends. Though often giving him the odd stare and perhaps the odd flinch that keeps Ayumu glancing over his shoulder every now and again, he has learned to trust even this sneak-theif that had at first been set to kill him.
Wynne - The oldest of the party, she is everything Ayumu never had in terms of a mother figure. She is never afraid to speak her mind and turn him to correction, which Ayumu is humble enough to accept. He admires her counsel and her determination. She is a rather inspiring contrast to the rough and wild Morrigan as being a healer and guide. He knows he will miss her terribly when she is gone.
Ostagar - He's a cute mabari with a killing streak that could send any darkspawn cowering. Nuff said.
